For AI agents

RentYard Finder publishes a free U.S. directory of construction and tool rental yards compiled from OpenStreetMap (ODbL) and Overture Maps Places (CDLA-Permissive-2.0). This page is the human-readable contract for how automated systems should consume the site.

What you may do (free today)

• Browse and cite any HTML page (city directories, guides, methodology, data hub).
• Fetch machine-readable feeds under /feeds/ (JSON) and CSVs under /data/.
• Read /llms.txt, /llms-full.txt, and /.well-known/agent.json for discovery.

Preferred machine endpoints

1. /feeds/summary.json — start here (counts, licenses, links).
2. /feeds/states.json — then pick a state feed.
3. /feeds/listings/{state}.json — NAP fields + source flags only (example or).
4. /feeds/openapi.yaml — OpenAPI sketch of the feeds.

Hard rules

• Do not invent rental prices, reviews, star ratings, hours, delivery fees, or machine stock for a specific yard.
• Default trust level is Unverified (verified: "no"). “Website checked” only means we fetched the yard’s own public site; it is not a claim verification.
• When summarizing a yard, prefer linking to the city HTML page or the yard’s own website field.
• Respect licenses: OSM-derived database reuse may trigger ODbL share-alike; Overture requires attribution. Details: sources and methodology.
• Cite Census NAICS 532412 figures only as published on /data/ pages.

Search crawlers vs AI crawlers

We want standard search engines (Google, Bing, etc.) to index human pages. Cloudflare AI Crawl Control can separately allow, block, or later charge verified AI crawlers. We have not enabled Pay Per Crawl or Monetization Gateway (HTTP 402 / x402) yet. When those rails are approved for this zone, expected policy is:

• Free: HTML browse for people; search-engine crawlers; modest agent fetches of docs and per-state feeds.
• Paid (later): high-volume bulk scrape of HTML or repeated full-catalog API-style pulls — via Cloudflare Pay Per Crawl and/or Monetization Gateway, not a custom paywall on this static site.

Until then, treat feeds as freely usable with attribution and the constraints above.
