Editorial policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026 (America/Los_Angeles). RentYard Finder aims to be a trustworthy directory. These rules govern what we publish.

Accuracy and sourcing

• Directory facts come from open map datasets or from a yard’s own public website, with a fetch date when we cite the website.
• We do not fabricate NAP data, prices, reviews, testimonials or machine availability.
• Guidance articles cite official sources (for example OSHA regulations and Call 811) when we reference legal or safety requirements. Guidance is general information, not legal, insurance or safety-certification advice.

Unverified vs. website-checked vs. claimed

• Unverified — default for open-data listings. Details have not been confirmed with the business.
• Website checked — we fetched the listed website and recorded what the page said on that date. This is not a full verification of the branch.
• Claimed / verified — reserved for after a human review of a claim or phone check. Until then, the Unverified badge stays.

Advertising and Featured listings

• Paid placements are labeled Featured (or similar) and do not rewrite factual fields.
• We do not sell star ratings or hide negative facts for payment.
• House ads and disclosure language appear in the site footer and on the terms disclosure.

Independents and chains

Where we can detect well-known national chains by name, we may sort independent yards ahead of chains on city lists so local options are easier to find. Detection is imperfect; report mistakes via Add a listing.

Corrections, removals and closed yards

Send corrections through our forms. We will remove or mark closed businesses when we receive credible notice or when open data marks them permanently closed. We prefer fixing data over deleting useful pages; dead listings may be pruned over time.

AI and automation

Site pages are generated from structured data plus hand-written templates and guides. Automated website fetches only store what appears on the public page. We do not use generative AI to invent yard-specific facts.
