Equipment Rental Delivery vs. Picking It Up Yourself
Most rental yards offer both options for compact equipment. Larger machines are usually delivered.
Picking up yourself
- Check your vehicle owner's manual for its rated towing capacity and compare it to the combined weight of machine plus trailer (ask the yard for both).
- Confirm hitch size, ball or pintle type, safety chains and the electrical/brake connector.
- Trailer brake, lighting and licensing rules vary by state; ask the yard what applies.
- Know how to load and secure the machine with chains or binders, or ask the yard to load it for you.
Having it delivered
- Delivery avoids towing risk and suits heavier machines.
- Confirm the delivery window and whether someone must be on site.
- Make sure the truck can reach the drop-off point and that the ground can take the weight.
Either way
Photograph the machine at handover and at return, and confirm in writing when the rental clock starts and stops.
