Compact Track Loader Rental Guide
A compact track loader (CTL) is a skid-steer-style machine on rubber tracks. Tracks spread weight, which helps on soft, muddy or finished ground.
When a CTL fits
- Wet soil, sand or lawns you want to protect
- Grading and material moving where tires would rut
- Sites where a wheeled skid steer would spin or dig in
When wheels may be enough
On firm pavement or compacted gravel, a wheeled skid steer is often lighter to transport and adequate for the work. Compare both in our skid steer vs. CTL guide.
Ask the yard
- Machine width and operating weight for gates and trailers
- Track condition and what the damage policy covers
- Attachments and whether they use the same quick-attach as their skid steers
- Delivery versus tow requirements
Digging attachments
If you will break ground with an auger or similar attachment, contact 811 first.
