Boom Lift rental cost guide
Boom lifts (articulating or telescopic) reach up and over obstacles for exterior work such as roofing, tree work, painting, signage and steel erection.
We don't list prices we can't verify. Use this guide to understand a quote, then compare real quotes from boom lift rental yards.
What affects the price
- Rental period
- Yards commonly quote daily, weekly and monthly (4-week) rates; longer periods usually cost less per day. Ask how a "day" is defined (8 hours of meter time or 24 hours on rent).
- Machine size and model
- Bigger capacity, height or dig depth generally costs more. Ask which exact model you will get.
- Attachments
- Buckets, augers, forks and other attachments may be priced separately.
- Delivery and pickup
- Delivery is often charged each way and can depend on distance. Towing yourself avoids it but requires an adequate vehicle and hitch.
- Damage waiver / insurance
- Many yards add a damage waiver or require proof of insurance. Read what it covers.
- Fuel and cleaning
- Ask whether the machine must come back full and clean, and what is charged if not.
- Taxes and environmental fees
- Sales tax and small fees appear on many invoices. Ask for an all-in quote.
- Season and availability
- Popular machines can book up in busy seasons; reserve early and compare more than one yard.
How to choose the right boom lift
- Articulating (up-and-over reach) or telescopic (maximum straight reach)?
- Working height, horizontal outreach and platform capacity?
- Ground conditions on site - rough-terrain or slab model?
- Is fall-protection equipment and operator training available?
Get an accurate quote

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent a boom lift?
It depends on the yard, your area, the model, the rental period and extras like delivery and damage waivers. We don't publish unverified prices; call two or three yards for an all-in quote and compare them using the factors on this page.
Is it cheaper to rent a boom lift by the week?
Weekly and monthly rates are usually lower per day than daily rates, but confirm with the yard and check how many hours of use are included.
Should I rent or buy a boom lift?
If you only need it occasionally, renting usually avoids maintenance, storage and transport costs. Use our rent vs. buy calculator with your own quotes to find your break-even point.
